What is PiezoWave Therapy and does it work?

You might have heard of Piezowave therapy, or maybe you’ve seen it on the menu at your favorite bodywork facility or at your chiropractor like I did. But what exactly is Piezowave therapy? Put simply, Piezowave therapy is a form of physical therapy that uses sound waves to treat musculoskeletal pain. This type of therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to its ability to target areas of the body that are otherwise difficult to reach with traditional treatment methods. I just got this done, and I’m excited to share my experience with you all!

Piezowave therapy works by sending high-frequency sound waves into targeted areas of the body. These sound waves stimulate the muscles and tissues, which can help reduce pain and speed up healing. It also helps increase circulation to affected areas, providing more oxygen and nutrients that help promote healing and improve mobility.

There are many benefits to using Piezowave therapy, including:

Improved circulation- Increased circulation means more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to affected areas, helping them heal faster.

Reduced inflammation- The sound waves can reduce inflammation in affected areas, which can help relieve pain and swelling.

Improved mobility- The increased circulation helps improve mobility by increasing range of motion in joints and muscles.

Increased muscle strength- The sound waves stimulate muscle activity, which can help build strength.

Pain relief- Many people find that using Piezowave therapy for their pain provides quicker relief than other treatments such as medication or surgery.

Here’s a link to what the Mayo Clinic has to say about it with clinical studies linked at the end:

Now, more about what I have specifically experienced with it! I just recently had my first Piezowave therapy treatment done on my left shoulder. I’d never heard of it until I went to my chiropractor and mentioned shoulder pain from an injury I took on recently. I figured I’d give it a go in place of acupuncture for the meantime. If you’ve ever had an ultrasound done, it seems similar to that. they run this little gummy handheld machine around the area after they put some gel on your skin.

I have to say, this thing HURTS like nothing you’ve ever felt before, and only on the area that’s injured, which is insane to think that it ‘knows’ where the injured tissues/ligaments/muscles are. The pain of the treatment should go away within 2-3 sessions and as the injury gets better, and when the pain during the treatment starts to dissipate, that means the injury is on its way to getting better. My doctor ran the machine around my arm and upper back so that I could get used to it and it only felt like a tiny pinch. Once he got to my shoulder, the tiny area that I’ve been having pain in LIT UP.

I’m gunna be honest, I had to ask him to stop a few times so that I could lay down because I was beginning to pass out from the pain. I asked him if this was normal and he said yes. People tend to clam up and get really sweaty during this treatment and some pass out (or almost pass out) like myself. I had to lay down 3 separate times, but I finally made it through. So embarrassing…

I haven’t had enough treatments yet to give you my honest feedback on it. Online it mentions that it takes about 3-5 sessions to fully work on the injury and potentially even heal it up. I’ll be going back 2-3 more times over the course of the next 3-4 weeks, so I’ll make sure to come back to this post and edit it with my findings! Second treatment is tomorrow! So far, I think it did me a lot of good, and for $50 a treatment, it’s more affordable than my acupuncture visits to another office which were $85+.

If you’re looking for an alternative treatment for your musculoskeletal pain, then consider trying out Piezowave therapy! I’m not sure if it’s fully available everywhere yet, but it’s worth a shot if you are someone like me who sometimes has these random nagging injuries but doesn’t need surgery. This revolutionary treatment utilizes sound waves to target hard-to-reach areas and provide quick relief from pain while also increasing mobility and strength in affected areas. With its numerous benefits, it’s no wonder why so many people are turning to this innovative form of physical therapy!

If you’ve had this done before, I would LOVE to hear your experience in the comments below!
